John D Wilson - The Italian Job

THE ITALIAN JOB
‘The Italian Job’ is probably one of the most challenging paintings that I have done.

I couldn’t paint an Italian themed picture without including a Canaletto or Leonardo da Vinci and both miniature paintings turned out to be two of the hardest pictures that I have attempted, each taking over six hours to paint.

The paintings in the background are (from left to right):

Modigliani – Portrait of Jeanne Hebuterne
Canaletto – Outside of Piazza San Marco
John Singer Sargent – Gondolieres Siesta
Da Vinci – Mona Lisa
